How to get quantities from an IFC online (QTO)

Counts, lengths, areas and volumes for every element in the model, grouped by type or subsystem and downloaded to Excel. No templates, no macros, nothing installed.

  1. Open your IFC at geomaifc.com/app (drag and drop).
  2. Optional: in the Explorer, filter what you want to quantify — a type, a subsystem, a chainage range, a property. Quantities respect the filter.
  3. Go to the Export tab → Quantities (QTO).
  4. Choose the grouping: IFC type, Type + subsystem or Subsystem. The table shows count, length (m), area (m²) and volume (m³) per group, with totals.
  5. Press ⬇ Excel or ⬇ CSV and take it to the estimate.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the model itself: the standard IFC BaseQuantities (NetVolume, GrossVolume, NetArea, Length…) and your organisation's own quantity properties. If an element carries no quantity, you get a dash instead of an invented number — which is the only honest way to hand a take-off to a quantity surveyor.

Partial take-offs

Only the drainage between chainage 10+000 and 12+500? Filter in the Explorer by subsystem and chainage range, go back to Quantities and export. The table is always whatever is visible.

If the model arrives without quantity properties, you can add them in batch before exporting.
